How we make money
Most websites about pensions and benefits are paid to send you somewhere. Very few say where, or how much. This page says both.
Right now, this site earns nothing
There are no adverts on Later Life Guide, no sponsored articles, and at the moment no paid links of any kind. Nothing on the site currently pays us anything. When that changes, this page changes with it, before the links go live.
How we will earn, when we do
Some later-life decisions need regulated financial advice: equity release, turning a pension pot into an income, and setting up a lasting power of attorney through a professional. We cannot give that advice — we are not authorised to, and we do not pretend otherwise. What we can do is introduce you to a firm that is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority.
If you go on to take a product through one of those introductions, the firm pays us a share of the fee they earn. That payment comes out of their fee. It does not increase the price you pay, and it does not change the advice you receive.
When those introductions are live, every page carrying one will show what we are paid, in pounds, before the link — not in the small print at the bottom.
What we will not do
- We will not sell or pass on your details. Our tools give you an answer on the page without asking who you are.
- We will not cold-call you, and we will not pass your number to anyone who might.
- We will not recommend a paid product where a free entitlement would serve you better. Our guides check what you can claim before they discuss what you could borrow.
- We will not hide the downside. Every page about a financial product carries a section on who should not take it.
Why we publish this at all
Because the alternative is asking you to trust a website that will not tell you how it is funded. If a firm's payment ever pulled against your interests, you would want to know the payment existed. So we say it plainly, and you can weigh what we write accordingly.
Something on this page unclear or out of date? We would rather fix it than defend it.
